Mucky Mud
Phillip was supposed to be in bed on his BOTTOM bunk. We walked in after hearing him saying "I'm stuck...I need help!" Once we walked in and started laughing he told us he was stuck in "Mucky Mud"...which is from one of his favorite books. I really did get a good laugh out of it!

Sick & Injured
I'm really glad this week is over! Phillip started getting sick early in the week and originally had a fever, cough and runny nose. When his fever went away I figured he'd be on the mend soon. However, his cough kept getting worse...and the fever came back. So, Thursday since the weather had cleared up I drove him to Laramie to the doctors. As it turns out he has Pneumonia and ear infection. Truthfully I probably wouldn't have taken him in if Stuart had said it was a good idea. I'm glad I did because his blood oxygen level was at 88 and even with a breathing treatment it only went up to 90. Those don't sound horrible, but for a 3 year-old it isn't great. So, now he's on antibiotics, Prednisone (which makes him really WIRED!), and of course his breathing treatments. I don't even have to time the breathing treatments because right around the 4 hour mark Phillip starts asking for one.
Samuel also had quite a week. On Wednesday he went to wrestling practice. I had a feeling he shouldn't go, but away he went. Right after Stuart picked him up at 8 he called me and said that he thought we should take Samuel to the ER....what a way to start a conversation with the child's mother! I freaked a little and then he told me somehow Samuel landed wrong (and we're pretty sure someone landed on him) and the coaches were sure he either fractured his upper humerus (yes I had to look up what the bone is called) or he tore a muscle.
Stuart insisted on taking Samuel to the ER because he says it's his job since it was a sport injury. I felt so guilty for not taking him in! After an x-ray they determined that they don't think it's broken. Technically it still could be broken by the growth plate which won't show on an x-ray. So, if he's still not using his arm by Thursday of next week we get to go back to the doctor. He was given a sling for "comfort" but he's tried to go without it and so far no luck. He thinks his sling is pretty darn cool since his cousin Stephen had one last summer when we saw him. Samuel idolizes Stephen so to be like him is fine...despite the pain in his arm.
Hopefully everyone is feeling better this next week because my sister and her son Carson are flying into Denver for a visit and we're going down Friday to see her and Grandma and Grandpa Baxley...I'm SO excited, I haven't seen Cori or Carson since last July!

Nurturing Love and Friendship in Marriage
I love my husband, and he is the very best friend I've ever had. I'm grateful everyday for how often he tells me I'm beautiful regardless of whether or not I've put makeup on or what I'm wearing. He always....ALWAYS tells me I'm beautiful. What a way to make me feel good and to know that he loves me!
With every addition to the family it has become more important for us to tell each other and do small things that show each other (I am very much the "show me you love me" love language!) how much we love each other. At times with kids going different directions it's hard to have a bunch of time to spend with each other.
A couple weeks ago we went to the "holiday" party with his co-workers. They had a holiday family party right before Christmas, but this was the adult only party. The Social Worker from the school looked at us and said "it must be nice to finally get out of the house without kids." We told her that it was nice to get out, however we usually succeed in having a date at least once a month. I budget the money in and so it's usually not a problem. In our small town however there aren't typically a lot of options when we go out which is another reason we limit it to once a month. We do however feed the kids something simple and then after they've gone to bed have a nice dinner just to ourselves. I cherish these nights. It's not like it's not just the two of us every night after the kids are in bed, but our "home date nights" are just a little bit more special.
Lately I've been sending him an e-mail right before going to bed so that first thing in the morning he gets an e-mail telling him I love him and to have a great day. In return he sends me one so when I get on with Shorty to start school I get his e-mail of love.
Last year I bought a book (for the kids) about the states for them to use while we were on a road trip. However we've been reading this book. Well technically I quiz him....partially because he seems to have an unnatural knowledge of the weirdest pieces of information, and partially because it gives us something silly to do together. I'm convinced he gets his knowledge from the Uncle John's Bathroom Readers....he says he just picks up the information....but really who knows almost all of the state flowers and dinosaurs and juice? Not me :0)
Becoming friends was the easy part. Nurturing our friendship and love hasn't always been the easiest, but it's always been worth it!

Question
I was just reading on facebook that my sister-in-law Hannah made a Mango upside down cake...I'm assuming for an FHE treat. Which got me to thinking about a treat for us for FHE. Typically I don't make treats for FHE, I'm not really big on sweets so I just don't. Growing up we also didn't have sweets that often.
So my question to you is.....Do you make a treat for FHE every week?
