house

This post is mainly for family since there aren't very many pictures of the house on realtor.com.  We had our inspection yesterday (Saturday) and so I took my camera along.

The kitchen....don't care for the colors, not sure what colors I want in there yet.

 the boys room....2 pictures down you'll see a "box".  Every F house has this box and it's part of the stairway. I've heard of some creative things to do with the box...so we'll see what we decide on.

 Master bedroom

 We're going to skip to the basement real quick....because well that's how the pictures loaded.

This will be our food storage room.  It's technically considered the "closet" for the bedroom in the basement.  However, it's perfect for my food storage shelving.  The big ledge you see is because for "government" housing they didn't always completely dig out the basement and then encased the un-dug out part in cement.  We're almost 100% sure that's what's under this ledge.  Someday we may did it out, until the the ledge is kind of cool.  The previous owners used this ledge as a bed and so just threw some twin beds up there.  We may eventually do that, however for now this is food storage and the other....my craft room.....So Excited!

 basement bathroom and laundry room (with an "emergency"...just in case it gets too cold outside for the heat pump to work.... furnace and water heater thrown in).  The little black box is for the sprinkler system.

 Now back upstairs.  The girl's room.  Not sure I like the crowns on the walls, and we need some lilac color on the walls so both of the girls' quilts will look good in here.  Note the original door on the closet.  I love these doors.  There are only 3 inside doors that aren't original.   I've been told you can buy them at the habitat for humanity store in town.  Looks like I'll be shopping soon :0).

 Upstairs bathroom.  Under the mirror in the first picture is where the sink used to be.  At some point the sink was moved from there to where it is now, which used to be a closet.

 Upstairs hallway.  The far doors are the bathroom on the left, hall closet, girls room on the right.  The doors closest are the linen closet on the left, behind me is the boys room and to the right is our room.

News

So.....here we go again.  We're buying another house.  Yes, we still have our house in Wyoming.  However, it's too expensive to rent here if we want to be in anything but a small apartment and we're trying to put down some more permanent roots!  We LOVE living here so I guess.... why not?

This is a Richland Alphabet House.  It is called an "F" house.

Around here they are not only called alphabet houses, but government houses because all of these homes were built for the Hanford site.  Click HERE to read more about them.

We had originally made an offer on a different F house, but the owners were dragging their feet and didn't sound like they really wanted to sell.  And I have to say that I'm glad they drug their feet because yesterday our Realtor showed us this house.  We knew it was coming on the market and it finally did last night.  Our Realtor was driving by and asked them if she could see it and then called Stuart and gave him a verbal tour and then asked if the owners were okay if we'd like to go see it.  And so we did.

We signed an offer a little over an hour after they signed their paper work to list the house.  

We found out this evening that the accepted our offer and so we are set to close on May 6th.  

We are going to try to move the last week in April as Stuart has Savior of the World rehearsals and performances from now until Easter so moving isn't quite an option yet.

We are SO excited.  It has 4 bedrooms, a carport....we've never had even a carport, and 2 bathrooms.....WOW, we've always lived with one.  That may sound silly to those of you with more than one bathroom but we're about to potty train our 4th child and we need the 2nd bathroom!

This house has everything we would have had to do to the other F house, except the beautiful kitchen the other house had....but I can work on that...LOL!

We thought about looking at newer homes in Richland, however we decided we need to keep the kids in the same school (we'll be a block and a half away), and so a "government" alphabet house it is.  

Park Day!

We went to the park today.  And there was a little bit of this........

Okay so it's not that bad, but it's funny to think about that it's March 11th and I have a sunburn on my face.  Seriously....where did we move to....Hawaii?

It was my idea to go to the park and I called a few friends to go with us.
We headed to the "Castle Park" as we call it or the Playground of Dreams as it's technically named.

Phillip and his 2 "girl" friends were there.  He followed one around calling her "Princess"....then the girls both decided that they are going to be his wife....hmmmm, Sister wives?  LOL!

While at the park my friend Laura was pushing Phillip in the swing with her 4 month old in her wrap on the front of her.  She pushed Phillip harder than she thought and he knocked her over.  Typically it would have just been kind of funny.  Instead there is a pretty big decline from where the swing platform is to where the bark on the regular ground is.  She landed on her ankle.  It took 3 of us (and her husband and another sister who brought over her stroller so Laura wouldn't have walk back to the car which was REALLY far away.  Side note:  no she didn't ride in the stroller, she just put her knee on it so she didn't have to walk.) to get her to the car.  It also took almost 2 hours of us sitting out there waiting for her husband, and other help.  Mind you we all had at least 2 kids at the park (two of which are infants) so we had to stop to give the babies food etc.  She also couldn't put any weight on it and so 2 of us would have had to help her and that left one with 2 infants to get to the car along with 6 kids under the age of 4.  So we waited.  

We had a good laugh about it.  And to be honest, it was a little strange to not be the one who had sprained my ankle.  I'm usually the one lying on the ground.

Kind of glad it wasn't me.  Is that bad?

My heart is sad tonight, and my eyes are betraying me just slightly.

A little girl Phillip was in dance class last year with was diagnosed last July with an inoperable brain tumor.

Delaney is the sweetest and kindest little girl.

She is her parent's only child and her mother medically can never have any more children.  

She is dying.

She has less than a few days to live, and she just turned 4 years-old.

It makes me want to hold my babies just a little bit longer,

and say a few more prayers thanking my Heavenly Father for blessing me with them.

My prayers are with the Wadsworth family during the next few days and I hope that yours will be too.

Phillip turns 4!

We had a Super "P" birthday at our house on Friday/Saturday.  

I say Friday and Saturday because poor patient Phillip had to wait until Saturday to celebrate and get his presents.  I am the Relief Society meeting coordinator at Church and since they did away with the Activities Chairperson and are leaving Ward activities up to each Auxiliary the RS (well, I admit I wanted to plan a Valentines party) got to plan the first Ward activity.  If I had known we were going to have it on Phillip's birthday I probably would have declined, however I didn't know the date until after I had committed.  

I say Friday and Saturday because poor Phillip had to wait until Saturday to actually celebrate his birthday. 

So, while the committee and I were cooking the main dish for the party Phillip had a mini party with his friends who happen to be the children of most of the committee members.   

So because my friend Wendy and I decided to play with fondant for Phillip's cake I also cut out flowers and frogs for cupcakes.  The kids thought they were pretty cool.

Saturday morning Phillip came in and asked if it was time to open presents and have cake.  At first I told him he had to wait.  That's when he looked at me and said "I have been waiting Momma."

So as soon as Stuart got home from Savior of the World rehearsal we had cake and opened presents.

I wish I could figure out how to get these pictures to turn.  He asked for this robe every time we went to Costco.  He's a little in love with different towels and robes after his birthday.  I've never seen a kid be quite so picky about his towels after a bath!

I've been seeing capes on different blogs for a while and so decided Phillip needed one.  He jumps off just about anything I let him so I figured a cape would make it seem like more than just jumping...LOL.

Now, you'd think he would actually wear it.  He knew he was getting it.  I even had him try it on before he actually got to have it.  And he was running around with it on.  But now that it's actually his, he won't wear it.  

He did wear it to the store on Saturday and it was pretty funny to see everyone looking at him and smiling.

 So, Happy Birthday to my favorite 4 year-old!

 There are so many things we love about Phillip.  

What I love about Phillip is that his imagination is bigger than he is.  He never lacks for things to play with, and I love it!

Stuart's favorite thing about Phillip is always excited and energetic.

Samuel's favorite thing is that Phillip likes to play sports with him (particularly wrestling).

KatieJo's favorite thing about Phillip is he likes to play with her and read books.

Maija just flat out loves Phillip....except with she hits him and he hits her back.

It's Grandma B's birthday!

Happy Birthday Grandma Baxley!  We love you!

Eye doctors and tree skirts

Oh Phillip.  I tried and tried to get him to smile.  This was the 12th picture I took and still no smile.

He had an eye appointment today, hence the "sunglasses".  He tried to convince the doctor he needed glasses.  I told her I'd bribe her to not give them to him even if he needed them.  Can you imagine a rowdy 4 year-old with glasses?  I'd be replacing them every other week!

He doesn't need glasses...yet.  However, he goes back in 6 months because he seems to be having an eye focusing and eye team work problem.  I guess it's fairly typical of kids who's mom's had to take terbutaline while pregnant (to stave off pre-term labor).  So we'll see what happens in August.

On the way to the eye doctors Phillip asked me..."Are they going to clean my teeth?" To which I answered "No"

"Are they going to clean my eyes then?"  I just laughed and told him they were going to check his eyes to see how they are.   He cracks me up!

  

 And these pictures are of our new tree skirt.  The pictures aren't the best...sorry.  That's what I get for not taking them during the day.  I used THIS tutorial.

Truthfully I wasn't that thrilled.  I had issues getting the triangles the same size.  I think it turned out cute, but if I had to do it again I would figure out a different way to do the triangles.

 Two sided!  The top side has santas and mistletoe type things and the bottom is just snowmen.  Stuart prefers the top and I'm kind of partial to it to.  So chances are that's what will be "up".

 The instructions say that it takes a "ton" of bias tape (this isn't technically bias tape as I didn't cut it on the bias).  So I made a TON!  This is what I have left over.....I need to figure out another project to use it on.  Any ideas?
