Slacker

So I'm pretty sure I'm a slacker.  

Yep.  I'm sure.

I haven't blogged since the beginning of July...and so much has happened since then.

I bet you were just sitting on the edge of your seat WAITING and waiting and WaItInG for me to blog...right?

Well, I was busy in Colorado spending time with mi familia and going to garage sales and the ARC thrift store.  And, buying a car and a dog (her name is Addy and she is a West Highland White Terrier, Poodle mix) and...well lets just say that this summer has been classified as 

"The Summer of Spending".  

In my defense.....

The car was needed....and so was the rental of a Uhaul trailer to bring my piano (it used to be my parents piano) and all the stuff I bought AND sent home with my parents before we moved last year. 

After Colorado we headed to Idaho for a week and a half to spend time with Stuart's familia.

We had a grand ol' family reunion.  There are 50 of us (mind you that's just Stuart's brother's and sister's and their kids + his parents)....and 2 more on the way.

A good time was had by all!  I even have pictures because I got a new camera as my other one died on me.  But wouldn't you know I'm not at home blogging...I'm in Mabton working on Stuart's bulletin boards.  (They're done if you're wondering)

And now we're back home.  We have been for 2 weeks.  However, the first week home I spent working on a wedding cake.  It turned out beautifully despite a rocky start with the middle layer (and almost being dropped twice!).  Again.....the pictures are at home.

And now Stuart is getting back into the swing of things with Football practice.  He had an inservice day last Thursday and then he doesn't have to be back to work until Wednesday which is the day his students go back.

Our kids don't go back until next Tuesday...they're excited, they both got the teachers they wanted.  

And I'm just still trying to breathe.  WOW we've done a lot this summer!

4th of July

As the kids, my mom and I sat watching fireworks on Monday night

I was hit with a wave of gratitude. 

I am so profoundly grateful for the men and women who have served our country

to make us the Great Nation we are today.

I know there are things we may not like about our country.

But thanks to the men and women who have served our country we are able to voice those opinions.

God bless America!

Grouchy

So I've been grouchy lately. 

Could be the surgery I had almost 3 weeks ago. (Although I really do feel fantastic)

Could be the shot they are giving me for the next 6 months (well 5 if you count the one I've already received)

to shut my hormones down to hopefully get rid of the rest of the endometriosis. 

Oh did I mention it's like going through menopause with hot flashes, mood swings etc?  I am on a medicine to counteract some of the sideaffects....but I'm still grouchy.

Could be that I've realized I REALLY miss Stuart (THANK heavens for Skyping!!!).

It could also very well be the heat...I despise being hot which is part of the reason I'm in Denver this summer....it's cooler here!

Regardless I've been less than nice to my children and VERY snappy.

I just read this BLOG.

And I wanted laugh out loud.  I even almost did but my parents are asleep down the hall and the kids are asleep down the stairs so I'm laughing in my head instead.

Oh the things I said I would never do as a parent.

I was at the store with my sister, her little boy and my 4 hoodlums cherubs...who really weren't that bad tonight (espcially with it being so close to bedtime).  Well if I hadn't been grouchy they wouldn't have been bad...LOL!

My nephew Carson was screaming, Samuel was trying to get him to stop by being completely obnoxious, KatieJo was dancing around because really when does she not dance around everywhere.  Phillip was "driving" the car he was in on the front of the cart getting out every couple of minutes saying he needed his drivers license because we "hit" my sister's cart (again with a car on the front of it) on purpose and we needed to call the cops.  And Maija well, Carson was screaming so she was too.  They were in the same "car" it was inevitable really.

Cori looked at my exasperated and said "We've become THOSE people".  I just smiled.  I've been "those" people for a while now....you know the one you look at and say....fill in the blank here you know what you would say in your head.  However in my defense you can only threaten to rip their arms off and beat them with the bloody stumps a couple of times before they realize you aren't going to do it.  

  Really despite what Cori thought they weren't bad....I've been through worse. 

Seriously....none of them were throwing up or throwing things at other people. 

We were good tonight.

Funny how life WITH kids puts things in perspective for a person!

I really do love my kids, they are awesome, with a few strange quirks...but really who doesn't have them?

I'm going to go work on my grouchyness now by going to bed!

Funny papers

Maija was crawling around the floor this morning saying...

"Woof"

So Stuart asked her if she was a dog.

She stopped.

Looked at him and said...

"No"

 then proceeded to start Meowing.

I love Sunday mornings.  Typically.

 I'm still not feeling well and Samuel had an appointment with the Bishop for his baptism interview.  

No, he doesn't turn 8 until August.  However, because of the whole...Chaney planned to spend the entire summer at her parents and won't be back until AFTER Samuel is slated to get baptized in Idaho Falls we had to do the interview now.

So Stuart took Samuel to the Church for his 10:30 appointment.

The first mistake we made this morning was that Maija was running around in a diaper instead of being fully clothed.

The second was that I was upstairs laying down (you know...it goes along with not feeling well) instead of laying on the couch.

I noticed it got kind of quiet downstairs.  

That should have been my first clue.

Come to find out the two shortest Mobley's had escaped into the backyard. 

 Phillip was riding a scooter around the van and Maija was standing on the bench dancing.

Somedays I just want to sit down and laugh hysterically at them.  But if I did that then they'd pull this stuff all the time.

I think I should be a cartoonist.  The kids provide me with more than enough material!

Benched

I've been benched from the thing we called life....again.

I think it may be Heavenly Father's way of telling me that I need to slow down. 

I don't really have time to be "benched" but it's happened again.

I've been having some pelvic pain on and off for a while.  I dismissed it....which is not necessarily a good thing to do. 

But I've been busy and didn't have time for a doctors appointment. 

That is until Monday night.  

The pain came and didn't go away.  

Finally about midnight I agreed to go to the ER.

They gave me morphine....truly a great drug if you are in pain. 

 However, I could live without the weird dreams it brings with the relief

They diagnosed me with a big cyst and told me to see my OBGYN.  So I did.  

My OBGYN however seems to think it's a pelvic infection of some sort.  Right now they are treating it as such because it's easier to start treating an infection than to try to play catch up later.  They have to wait for cultures to grow which as it turns out takes FOREVER to grow.

I go back this next Tuesday to the OBGYN so we'll see what happens.

*On a side note, I have a "frog" jumping around my living room.  We affectionately call her Maija.  Love that frog!*

Now onto our regularly scheduled program......

The kids get out of school next Friday (the 10th), and KatieJo has her dance recital that afternoon.  My mom flies in on Friday and we're heading to Denver on Monday the 13th (minus Stuart who is staying home to work on the house).

On Friday the 17th my mom, sister, nephew and I are all headed to Baltimore for a girls weekend.  It's Carson's weekend with his dad and so us girls are going to make a weekend of it in DC!  YAY us.

That is if I'm feeling good by then!

Then there are swim lessons and trips to NE for my Aunt Ila's memorial service and the Mobley Family Reunion and our 10th Anniversary...whooeee BRING on the summer!

Maybe it's a good thing I've been sidetracked this week, it's my last chance to breathe for a while!

Discount pass

I think the ER should have a punch card for a discount!  

Samuel had to go AGAIN yesterday.  

He´s my only child to have ever gone to the ER...knock on wood!

He was playing soccer at school on Thursday and fell and hit his head.

The nurse called and told me about it and I didn´t think anything of it until yesterday (Friday morning)

when he was acting kind of funny.

He kept asking me questions...not annoyingly but more like he´d never asked me before. 

He couldn´t remember things he should have been able to remember.

So off to the ER we went.

He wasn´t very happy with me, but we went anyway.  

He had his stuffed Rhinoceros with him (which in and of itself was weird since he NEVER carries a stuffed animal anywhere.

They gave ¨Rick¨the Rhinoceros a CAT scan before they gave Samuel one.  I am so grateful for that.  He was scared spitless about getting a CAT scan.  It´s kind of a big scary machine.  But after Rick got his Rick got to pick out a toy.  For the record he and Samuel got the same toy....a bear.  Yes, we have 2 identical stuffed bears.  One named Ricky and one named Max.

When the doctor brought a picture of the CAT scan in he handed it to me and said ¨His brain looks good which is kind of funny because we don´t typically see brains in males until they are 25.¨

 I about died laughing.

Good news is he just has a concussion....and a sinus infection.  Between the 2 incidents this week and the sinus infection it´s not terribly shocking he has one.

On a lighter note....I got my new wash machine and Stuart is at the apartment getting the rest of the furniture and then he´ll be off to the storage unit.

Oh, and Phillip is trying to teach Duchess to roll over.  

Crazy kid!

Boxes and Blood

I think craziness is becoming a norm in our home.....

We signed our lives away again on Monday morning thinking we would be able to drive right over and start moving in.  It worked that way at our other homes.  However, in Washington after you sign the papers buying a house the papers have to go back to the lender who then ¨funds¨ and sends the paperwork onto the courthouse who records the sale and then sends the paperwork back to the lender who then sends it to the title company who then sends it to the sellers agent who in turn sends the approval back to our agent who then handed the keys over.  Whew....what a process!  We signed papers at 9 am and finally got the keys at about quarter to 2.  Stuart has the keyboard on Spanish mode again so I can´t use the colon key right now.....GRRRR!

So Monday afternoon and all day Tuesday I spent my time moving boxes into the house.  Tuesday afternoon the kids walked home from school and were later than they should have been and I started getting worried.  First thing out of Samuel´s mouth when they got home was....
¨Sorry we´re late.  Sister Slaugh says you need to look at this....¨ at which point he takes the bandaid off his face.  Turns out he was walking in front of a friend on the swing and got kicked in the neck and landed on his face.  So off to the ER we went because the kids had their Spring Concert Tuesday evening and the Urgent Care literally takes HOURS.  They checked out his neck and super glued his gash back together instead of doing stitches.  He is VERY grateful for super glue right now!

Wednesday I again was moving boxes and decided since I wasn´t getting my new washer until today that I was going to do a load of laundry....I forgot I had picked up a broken glass bottle of salsa in dish towels and so dumped them into the washer and pushed them down with my had and sliced my middle finger open.....rather than going to the ER for stitches....although that may have been wise we super glued it together.  I figured when the doctor told me at the ER that the stuff they use is pretty much the same as super glue I was good....right...LOL!

I saved us about 250 dollars but it sure does hurt!!

We only have a few more boxes to move out of the apartment and then all of the big furniture will be moved on Saturday along with all of our stuff from storage.  I haven´t seen some of that stuff for about 15 months...crazy!  I´m hoping to have a garage sale soon.
